Team Technocrats is VIT Chennai’s official robotics team. Technocrats incorporates students from different branches who share a common passion for robotics and each one showcases their talent and skill in their particular field.
VIT has become the first college in India to undergo the coveted ABET (Accredition Board for Engineering and Technology)
accreditation process successfully. Five of its programs viz., B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic
and Communication Engineering and Computer Science Engineering have been accredited yet. VIT Chennai is a new campus, established in 2010. It boasts
of state-of-the-art facilities on campus, and spacious, well-furnished rooms. Laboratories are of superior standards and so are the facilities offered
to the students living in the campus.
What we offer
The Asia-Pacific Robot Contest (ABU Robocon) is an International Collegiate level Robotics competition, founded in 2002 by the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union. In the competition teams compete with their robots to complete a task within a certain period of time. Each year the competition has different themes, but generally two or more robots must be used to complete the tasks. One of the robots would be manually controlled while the others are automatic. The competition comprises of two stages - the National Contest and the International Contest. The domestic contest will take place in the first week of March 2018, whereas the international contest will take place from 24th Aug 2018 till 28th Aug 2018.
INDIAN MARS ROVER CHALLENGE
INDIAN MARS ROVER CHALLENGE(IRC) is an edition of rover challenge series conducted by Mars Society South Asia. It is a competition based on robot design and space exploration for young Mars Rover enthusiasts, to expand their horizons on Mars rovers and come up with innovations. The participating teams design and build a Martian rover prototype and use that rover to compete in various tasks at a designated location. The rovers are expected to perform four tasks as listed below- The rovers are expected to perform four tasks: 1) Science task to carry out the scientific analysis of the region; 2) Extreme Traversal task to navigate through a rough terrain and deliver certain payload; 3) Equipment Servicing task to perform a set of intricate operations on a mock panel; 4) Autonomous task to autonomously travel to a site and locate certain markers. It is the only competition of its kind in Asia-Pacific, conducting 3 editions of the esteemed competition have so far.
